Artichoke Pizza Overloads and Dressed Up Doggies Coming Soon to 5th Avenue

The Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District has released the schedule for this year's Summer Strolls.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — If you didn't take home the gold at Freddy's 2nd Annual Doggy Fashion Show last year, you have one month to prepare for your shot at redemption.

The Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District has announced the schedule of this year's four Summer Strolls, a series of block parties that will close portions of 5th Avenue to cars while opening it up to businesses and pedestrians eager to enjoy the summer weather.

This year's Strolls will take place between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on July 16, July 23, August 13 and August 20.

During the events, 5th Avenue will be closed to cars between 12th Street and 18th Street in the South Slope, and between Dean Street and Sterling Place in the North Slope.

Each evening will feature the mix of dancing, music, food and shopping common during years past, according to the BID, as well as numerous free activities like a vintage car show, street chess, a bouncy house and mini golf for the kids.

July 23, 6:30 p.m. — South Brooklyn Shakespeare presents Twelfth Night, the fourth annual production of the play, featuring 1940s-era costumes. Guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs. The curtain will rise at 629 5th Ave.

August 13, 5 p.m. — Lulu's Cuts & Toys will put on a carnival outside its store at 48 5th Ave. to celebrate its 15th year in business, featuring a juggler, cotton candy, carnival games, and a chance to win 15 free haircuts (you can enter the drawing with a purchase at any of the business's locations).

August 20 — Artichoke Basille's Pizza will host an artichoke pizza eating contest at 59 5th Ave. (The time of this event is still to be announced.)
