Brooklyn Vaccine Site Taking Walk-Ins For NYers 75 And Older

Those 75 years or older, plus the person accompanying them, don't need an appointment to get the shot at these three sites in New York City.

BROOKLYN, NY — The mass vaccination site at Brooklyn Army Terminal will be one of three places where New Yorkers 75 years and older can walk in to get their shot without an appointment, according to the city.

Health officials announced Monday that New Yorkers who are 75 years and older, plus an eligible person who accompanies them to the site, can both get vaccinated without an appointment at Brooklyn Army Terminal, Citi Field or the Bathgate vaccine site in the Bronx.

The walk-in rule is part of the city's plan to reach vulnerable older New Yorkers with the COVID-19 vaccine, officials said.

“New Yorkers 75 and over are at high risk from COVID-19, and we need to do everything in our power to help them get vaccinated,” said Dr. Ted Long, executive director of the NYC Test & Trace Corps. “We need to tear down all barriers for New Yorkers 75 and older to be vaccinated, and our new practice of walk-up vaccinations for them and an eligible escort makes it as convenient as possible for them and their loved ones.”

New Yorkers 75 years and older will need to show proof of their age when they arrive at one of the three vaccine sites. The person accompanying them can be any age, but must be eligible for the vaccine due to age, medical condition, employment or other reasons.

The escort must live in New York City or work in New York City in an eligible essential job.

Starting Tuesday, all New Yorkers over the age of 30 are eligible for the vaccine, in addition to certain essential workers and those with underlying conditions. Everyone over the age of 16 will be eligible starting April 6.
