BROOKLYN, NY — "Yarnistas" rejoice.

Brooklyn's very own Yarn Crawl — like a bar crawl, but for knitters, crocheters and other crafters — is on its way back to the borough for the first time since 2019, and with an extra week of fun.

The BKLYN Yarn Crawl, set to kick off Saturday, will run for a full week instead of a weekend to ensure enough time for yarn enthusiasts to stop by while staying safe during the coronavirus crisis, which cancelled the event last year.

"...With the good news about vaccines, bright sunny spring weather and warm temps just around the corner, we're making this a full in-person (and safe) event," organizer Kristen Couchot told Patch.

The crawl will include four Brooklyn stores across Windsor Terrace, Park Slope, Red Hook and Brooklyn Heights where participants can visit to join in raffles, exclusive sales, contests and other special activities.

The event will also include a scavenger hunt search for small knit items that leads to a Grand Prize raffles and free buttons from Couchot, who will be walking around during the crawl and posting on social media about her whereabouts.

The stores participating are Argyle Yarn Shop, String Thing, Brooklyn General Store and Woolyn.

"It's been an extremely hard year for these local shops, and it's great to see such huge support from their community and loyal customers," Couchot said.
