The statue will arrive at Prospect Park on August 10.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Marvel has partnered with the Brooklyn Bureau President’s office to announce a temporary Captain America statue in Prospect Park.
The statue will be unveiled at San Diego Comic July 20-24 before moving to Prospect Park on August 10 for a “limited amount of time,” according to Marvel.
Following its residency in Prospect Park, the plan is for the statue to appear in other Brooklyn locations, as yet unknown.

The latest Marvel movie, "Captain America: Civil War," was released theatrically in May 2016 and while Marvel says that the statue is not part of a specific promotional push, it does line up with the digital and blu-ray release of "Civil War" in September.
"Captain America was always more than just a kid from Brooklyn,” Brooklyn Bureau President Eric L. Adams said in a statement. “I am thrilled to be working with Marvel to bring Captain America home on his 75th anniversary."

Disney Consumer Products SVP Paul Gitter also released a statement regarding the statue.
“Brooklyn was selected as the perfect place to bring this 13 foot tall tribute due to the strong hometown pride that Captain America expresses in Marvel’s films,” Gitter said.
The statue will travel via truck from San Diego to Brooklyn. Marvel’s Twitter and Facebook accounts will document the statue’s progress as it makes its way across the U.S.
