Suspicious Device At Brooklyn Home Depot Was 'Hoax Device': NYPD
Emergency responders were at the Home Depot on Hamilton Avenue for hours on Friday morning after a call about a suspicious device.

BROOKLYN, NY — A Home Depot in Brooklyn that was evacuated Friday morning after a call about a suspicious device has been given the all-clear, according to police.
NYPD's Chief of Department Terence Monahan said shortly before 11 a.m. that the Bomb Squad determined that the device at the Hamilton Avenue Home Depot was a "hoax device."

Police were first called to the 550 Hamilton Ave. store — which sits on the border of Sunset Park, Red Hook and Gowanus — around 8:15 a.m.

The Home Depot was evacuated while emergency responders investigated.
Video from the scene showed a crowd gathered outside the Home Depot with several emergency vehicles surrounding the store. Officials also advised New Yorkers to avoid the area surrounding the Home Depot.
