PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Members of the City Council wield enormous power over what happens in New York City, and Patch wants to hear from residents in District 39 about what issues matter to them in this year's election.

For the first time since 2013, Brooklyn's 39th District will have someone other than Brad Lander representing them in City Council.

So far, seven candidates have put their hat in the ring to replace the term-limited council member, who is vying to become the city's next comptroller.
