Everything To Know For Brooklyn's St. Patrick's Day Parade
This year the only St. Patrick's Day parade in the city on the actual holiday, the Brooklyn procession will kick off in Park Slope on Sunday

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — This year, the only place to see a St. Patrick's Day parade on the actual holiday will be in Brooklyn. Here's everything you need to know to join whether you're joining the festivities, or just avoid the roadblocks.
The Brooklyn St. Patrick's Day Parade will kick off at 1 p.m. and run through Park Slope and Windsor Terrace. It is one of two parades in Brooklyn, the second of which will be held in Bay Ridge the week after the holiday.
This procession, started by Assemblymember Robert Carroll's grandfather, began in 1976 and attracts dozens of organizations along the route each year. For the first time this year, the first LGBTQ-Irish group, The Brooklyn Irish LGBTQ Organization, will join in on the processions.

The Parade Grand Marshal this year is Bernadette Buckley Kash, who runs the Buckley School of Irish Dance. The parade theme is a salute to Irish Dance and will, as it is each year, be “In Remembrance” of the heroes and victims of September 11. This year will also be in remembrance of past grand marshals John Riordan and Willian J. Burke.
