'Flatbush Farm' In Park Slope Closing Feb. 25

"The why is complex and perhaps best left said in farm metaphor," the restaurant wrote on Facebook.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — In a poetic and cryptic goodbye letter posted to its Facebook account, Park Slope restaurant Flatbush Farm & Bar(n) announced last week that it will close on Feb. 25.

"It is with sadness and a hearty thank you that we announce that Flatbush Farm and Bar(n) will be closing on Saturday, February 25th," the post read. "The why is complex and perhaps best left said in farm metaphor: floods, pests, drought, land use."

"All of this translated into our Urban Landscape," the post continued. "We just could not continue to serve you many and beautiful things the way we wanted to. We thank you for all the laughter, the food, the drinks, the music and most of all your beautiful company. We will miss farming with you."

Located at 76 St. Marks Ave., Flatbush Farm prided itself on its dedication to organic and fresh ingredients.

The restaurant's online manifesto stated that, "The Farm (as it is affectionately known) consistently employs sustainable agriculture—hormones and antibiotics kept to a minimum. Accessible, seasonal, local ingredients used to craft cuisine that features no selected yeast, enzymes, or additives—only partial flavors yielded."
