Jackie's Fifth Amendment Closing Next Month
Owner selling bar to pharmacy, according to report.

It was Gen. Douglas MacArthur who said: "Old dive bars never die, they just fade away."Â
I'm pretty sure that was the quote.Â
Anyway, that's exactly what's happening to Jackie's Fifth Amendment, at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street in Park Slope, according to The L Magazine.
Much as we might like to blame rising rents or the state of nightlife in Park Slope or some other demon, apparently it's just time to hang 'em up for the bar's owner.
A bartender confirmed to the magazine that Jackie's will be sold to the adjoining pharmacy, meaning you'll be trading your $5Â gin and tonics and whiskey gingers for antacids and Gold Bond, most likely.Â
The L Magazine is reporting that the bar will shut its doors for the final time on Sept. 14.Â
