Park Slope's New 'Mis Grill' Serving Turkish Flavors on 5th Avenue
Kebabs, gyros, rice pudding, Eggs Benedict, Belgian hot chocolate, and more, all under one roof.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A new neighborhood Turkish restaurant is serving up hot, made-to-order kebabs and gyros, plus of host of other dishes and delicacies.
Mis Grills is the creation of co-owners Muhammed Ari and his sister, Hulya Ari. The duo is from a Turkish family, but Muhammed explained that they grew up in Canada before moving to Brooklyn.
Muhammed said he was studying business at Brooklyn College, but was more interested in starting his own operation instead. And after about eight months of renovations, Mis Grill, located at 370 5th Ave., opened last week.

Muhammed and Hulya said they were eager to move to Park Slope, perceiving that it didn't have a lot of restaurants offering their style of food. (Istanbul Park is a few blocks away, but it offers general Mediterranean fare, while Muhammed said he's brought in chefs from Turkey for more authentic Turkish flavors.)
The restaurant offers an array of soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps. In keeping with Turkish culinary classics, Mis — the Turkish word refers to the sweet smell of fresh food — has a variety of chicken, beef and lamb kebabs ready to cook upon order, with vegetables that can be added by request.

Meanwhile, two spits gently rotate lamb, chicken and beef gyros (known as "doner" in Turkey) that are thinly sliced before being served.

Numerous house-made desserts are available as well, such as almond and rice pudding, baklava, tres leche, tiramisu, and kunefe, a kind of Turkish pancake baked around melted cheese.
Plus, everything on the menu is hilal.

Mis Gril is currently open from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. seven days a week, but starting in the second week of January, Muhammed and Hulya said it will start opening at 7 a.m. for breakfast. Omelettes, oatmeal, Eggs Benedict and French toast will be on the menu, along with lattes, coffee, and Belgian hot chocolate. The restaurant has free wifi for customers, and Muhammed said guests can come in and work while they eat.
And one other note: there's also an outdoor seating area in back, which the owner said he'll start using for hookah smoking starting this spring.

Mis Grill offers free delivery in a three mile radius for orders of $10 or more. Its website is still being set up, but in the meantime, you can check out its Instagram page. The restaurant can be reached by phone at 718-788-4500.
