PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — In what Brooklynites are already describing as a "Christmas miracle," the long-awaited Nitehawk Cinema has finally announced when it will open its doors to the public in Park Slope.

The theater announced on its Facebook page that the grand opening at the historic Pavilion Theater will be next week, Dec. 19, with "more details coming soon..." A private screening on Sunday for various community members and a press tour Tuesday night will precede the grand opening.

The announcement comes after weeks of hints as the company put its finishing touches on the 1920s theater and follows years of anticipation since it took over the spot in 2016.

"Santa is real," one commenter said online.

Another congratulated the company for "technically" making its goal of opening this year and a third joked that it is time to "get a babysitter."

Nitehawk staff also took to the comments section to offer a few more details about the news. Tickets for the grand opening will go on sale starting Monday, the team said. The theater will run both newer blockbusters and independent films with general admission prices at $13.

Nitehawk has said the company's second location will include seven theaters across three floors and offer the same dine-in style as its Williamsburg outpost.
