Another Chance of Northern Lights Over NYC Tuesday, Forecasters Say

Conditions for seeing Aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, will be "good" Tuesday night, AccuWeather reports.

A rare G3 magnetic storm happening this week could make the Northern Lights visible again Tuesday in New York City, according to Accuweather.

On Monday, the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks said “highly active auroral displays“ would be visible overhead “from Inuvik, Yellowknife, Rankin and Igaluit, to Portland OR, Cheyenne, Lincoln, Springfield, and New York City,“ weather permitting.

Now, AccuWeather is reporting conditions for seeing Aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, will be ”good” in the New York City area on Tuesday, as well.

“Tuesday night will bring another chance for people in Canada and the northern United States to see the northern lights as an influx of charges particles from the sun interacts with the earth’s atmosphere,” Accuweather reports.

Clear skies throughout the region will increase the chances of catching a glimpse of the phenomenon.
