Park Slope Library Lovers: Here's How To Support Your Branch

Friends of Park Slope Library will host an open house on Jan. 24.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Friends of Park Slope Library will be hosting a wine-and-cheese open house on Jan. 24 where they'll discuss plans to help fundraise for, and advocate on behalf of, the library. The gathering will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the library, located at 431 6th Ave.

According to organizers, the evening's conversation will include "the projects we're excited to have launched and completed in the past year," as well as how new Friends members can get involved with the group. Park Slope Councilman Brad Lander will also be in attendance.

You can RSVP for the event by emailing PSLibraryFriends@gmail.com.

Last July, work began on the library's new storytelling space and outdoor garden, a $250,000 project funded through Lander's 2015 participatory budgeting process. The project will include an amphitheater where stories can be told, as well as a statue of children's character Knuffle Bunny, the creation of author Mo Willems. Work is expected to be finished by the spring, according to Friends co-president Megan Nicolay.

Nicolay said the Friends will soon begin planning for their Spring Book Sale, which she referred to as "one of our most important fundraisers throughout the year."
