Park Slope Uzbek and Caribbean Restaurants Get Green Light from Community
The restaurants will bring their international flavors to the neighborhood in March and February, respectively.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Liquor license applications from two future Park Slope restaurants, each with their own international culinary vision, were given a vote of support by Community Board 6 on Wednesday.
Curry! Modern Caribbean Experience... is the work of Brooklyn native and chef Michael Frazier, who is planning to open at 388 5th Ave. by early February. The menu will "pay homage to the different societies and cultures in the Caribbean," Frazier said. One of the dishes planned: "Ital stew," a Rastafarian vegan offering made of vegetables stewed in a home-made coconut yogurt.
Then there's the Nargis Bar & Grill, an Uzbek restaurant to open at 155 5th Ave. by March, according to owner and executive chef Boris Bangiyer.

The restaurant's property is a split location, where half will hold a bar that serves about 25, while the other side will seat 64 for meals, Bangiyer said.
Uzbek food shares make elements with Middle Eastern cuisine, he explained, adding that he's looking forward to serving Lagman soup, a mixture of beef, vegetables and homemade noodles, and Samsa, a hot appetizer featuring meat and onions inside a cooked pastry.
