Park Slope's New York Methodist Hospital Merges with NewYork-Presbyterian
You can now call it by its new name: NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Park Slope's New York Methodist Hospital has merged with NewYork-Presbyterian, forming a new entity known as NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. The news was announced earlier this month on the hospital's website.
In a statement, Dr. Steven J. Corwin, the president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian, said the merger "will allow us to expand and enhance access" for Methodist's patients "in a number of key areas."
The NewYork-Presbyterian network has 29,000 employees and sees two million patients per year, according to the hospital. The (now renamed) New York Methodist has 651 beds and sees 42,000 inpatients and 500,000 people on an outpatient basis annually, the hospital said.

A hospital spokeswoman told Patch that, "It is not anticipated that any jobs will be lost as a result of this transition."
The Park Slope hospital's presence in the community is strongly felt. At a November rally calling for an elevator at the F/G line stop at 7th Avenue and 9th Street, some attendees cited the stop's proximity to the hospital as a reason to make the station accessible.
