Police: Suspicious Package Not a Threat

The NYPD's Bomb Squad has removed the suspicious package from Fifth Avenue and ruled it a "hoax."

An officer on the scene said that the Bomb Squad found four cups with a book laid over it near a bench on Fifth Avenue, between Garfield and Carroll streets.

Another officer said that it was "a hoax." The NYPD Bomb Squad removed the package around 5 pm and ruled that it was not a threat.

"We removed the package and will test it for fingerprints," the officer said.
