PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — As the city starts to thaw the next few weeks, so will Brooklyn's backyard. Prospect Park has a list of activities on deck for celebrating spring and summertime in the park, starting in the next few weeks.

The first warm-weather event on the Prospect Park Alliance's calendar will kick off March 28, when its historic carousel opens for the season. The ride's 53 horses, a lion, a giraffe, a deer and two dragon-pulled chariots will be ready for $2.50 rides starting at noon and will stay open Thursday through Sunday the rest of the season.

The warm weather fun will continue into April with everything from Earth Day celebrations, free days at the Prospect Park Zoo and walking tours of the park. A weekend-long Spring Fling will be held May 18 and 19 and the annual evening Prospect Park Soiree will be held June 22.
