Storm Downs Trees And Damages Cars In Park Slope
The powerful thunderstorm on Tuesday night knocked down trees around Park Slope and damaged two parked cars.
PARK SLOPE, NY — The powerful thunderstorm that wreaked havoc on Tuesday's evening commute knocked down trees around Park Slope and damaged two parked cars, according to Twitter users and reports.
A large tree on St. Johns Place, between Seventh and Eighth avenues, fell down during the storm and slammed into parked cars on the block, crushing the roof of a white Jeep, according to ABC7 and Twitter user Evan Schwartz.

No injuries were reported were reported from the downed trees, ABC7 reported.

Aside from the felled trees, the storm blew metal and steel beams off the roof of a Bed-Stuy building and fallen wood on the subway tracks stalling commutes on the 5 train, the Staten Island Railway and the Franklin Avenue Shuttle in Brooklyn.
The storm brought more than half an inch of rain and wind gusts as strong as 30 MPH to the city, according to the National Weather Service. Rain is expected to continue from Wednesday until next week, with thunderstorms possible on Saturday and Sunday.
