Tell DOT Where Citi Bike Should Go In South Slope, Sunset Park

SOUTH SLOPE, BROOKLYN — The Department of Transportation is taking ideas for where Citi Bike stations should go in their expansion to South Slope, Sunset Park and Windsor Terrace.

An open "Suggest a Station" survey for the neighborhoods recently launched on the department's website asks riders to submit their ideas for where the ride-sharing bike stations should go, or give general feedback about Citi Bike's expansion to the section of Brooklyn. There is also an option to suggest which areas are not suitable for a Citi Bike dock.

The survey is the latest in a series of portals Citi Bike has opened for its expansion plan across the five boroughs, which was announced last year as part of an initiative to make Citi Bike citywide.

Currently, two stations near Industry City have been Citi Bike's only foray into Brooklyn south of Prospect Park.

Citi Bike, and cycling in general, has become more popular as New Yorkers look for new ways to get around during the coronavirus crisis.

The bike-share system recently hit its milestone of 100 million all-time rides and is expecting to break its record of 100,000 rides in a single day this year.

The Citi Bike expansion is set to be completed by the end of 2023.

In Brooklyn, it will also include stations in Bed-Stuy, Brownsville, Crown Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, East Flatbush, Prospect Park South and Kensington.
