
NEW YORK CITY, NY — By Friday afternoon, the weather gods had made good on government predictions that two to five inches of snow would blanket the NYC area overnight.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), 4.5 inches of snow fell in Williamsburg as of 10:45 a.m. Friday.
In Central Park, snow accumulation was 2.5 inches by 1 p.m.

Queens won for the highest snow total in NYC, racking up 4.6 inches at JFK Airport by 1 p.m.. (Although LaGuardia only got 2.4 inches.)
The Bronx got 3.1 inches by 9 a.m., while Harlem got 2.4. by 11:20 a.m.

Over on Long Island, snow totals were much higher. Some areas got almost a foot of snow.
Between midnight Thursday and noon Friday, winds in NYC were expected to blow 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph — creating visibilities shorter than half a mile, the NWS said.
NYC skies are expected to clear by Friday evening and remain mostly sunny all weekend. However, by Monday or Tuesday, another big snowstorm could be moving in. More on that here.
