Meet Caliente! This wise senior boy came to us as a stray in November of 2019. He waited for his owners to come however that did not happen for him. It took a few weeks for Cali to warm up to us and realize that we just wanted to help him, once that happened he never looked back! Cali was suffering from a terrible skin infection and severely infected ears. It took many months but we were finally able to get his allergies under control, this was the underlying cause of his skin and ears. Cali also had a growth on his leg that was removed however it took many months to completely heal, it required daily bandage changes and it was in a bad spot. This summer we finally thought that he was able to be placed for adoption however he began to have gastrointestinal issues. After seeing a specialist and having multiple tests it was determined that he more than likely has inflammatory bowel disease. Cali was placed on a hypoallergenic diet and he takes daily medication. He has been doing amazing! The time has finally come where we feel confident that Caliente is ready to move on to the next chapter in his life. Cali has become a staff favorite and somewhat of an unofficial shelter mascot. He LOVES to be dressed up and he LOVES to carry toys around. In fact he is very particular about WHICH toy he has and will let you know when it is not up to his standards. He also is very particular about how his bed is made each day and will let you know if it is not to his liking. This gentle senior is looking for a couch to lie on and someone to dote on him. We promise you will not be disappointed. Caliente would prefer to not share his space with any other animals however he does walk nicely alongside his 4 legged friends here at the shelter. We estimate Caliente to be 8-10 years young. If you think you would like to foster to adopt please contact the shelter. Serious inquiries only as he will need someone that has the means to keep up with his medical needs. He is about 75 pounds, up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped and heartworm negative. This guy will make you smile everyday and his antics will keep you laughing, a brighter better personality you will not find.
