Curtis is such an amazingly fun loving guy. He is hoping that the rest of his life can be spent filled with love and happiness outside the walls of the shelter. He is a goofy, awkward guy who is in the market for a new family. He arrived as a stray with no manners and had trouble with the shelter environment. He was adopted however he was found a few months later in a different town, outside locked in a crate in the snow. Curtis is sadly still a resident at the shelter but has a large group of dedicated fans who do everything they can to make the best of the current situation for him. He is housebroken, loves people so much so that he wants to be by your side all the time and will follow you around. He is a huge fan of tennis balls, large rope balls and stuffed Kongs. He is a big guy but he thinks he is a lap dog and will often climb up and curl up in your chair just to be with you. He knows and enjoys the agility course and will sit and stay on command. Curtis was lucky enough to have a sleep over in a pet friendly hotel with a bunch of his favorite people. He did amazing, he loved all the attention and slept like a baby. He got tons of love, a bag load of toys and a multitude of special treats. There were a few people eating dinner and he sat by patiently waiting for a little something. He did not whine or cry out once. He also walked like a dream in the relaxed environment of the hotel grounds. Curtis is not a fan of other animals and that makes life at the shelter very stressful for him. He unfortunately suffers from separation anxiety and that sadly is something that many adopters are not ready and willing to take on. He does kennel (crate) very well and has had extensive practice and if you tell him to go kennel or show him a treat he will run into his kennel and wait for that treat. When you open the door and tell him to sit and stay he will not come out until you tell him to do so. Curtis longs for a home where he can relax and be someone’s loyal and loving best friend. He will need to be the only pet in an adult household with a 6 foot fully fenced yard but the love he has to share will amaze you. Curtis is eager to learn new things, he wants to please you and be your best friend. He is about 85 pounds, 5-6 years young, neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and heart-worm negative.
