Brookhaven Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Fantasia

BROOKHAVEN, NY - If you're looking for a new companion, consider starting your search at a local animal shelter like the Brookhaven Animal Shelter. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, many pets are still looking for their forever homes and shelters are still working to fulfill adoptions.

One of their available pets is Fantasia, a 3 to 4-year-old female mixed breed.

This adorable and sweet girl is Fantasia. She was picked up stray by an Animal Control Officer and brought to the shelter. We were hoping that her family would arrive and take her home. Sadly, that never happened for her. So here she sits hoping for a better chance the second time around. Fantasia is looking for a family to love, a door to look out of and get her daily dose of sunshine and a bed to curl up in. She is a pleasure to walk and would love the opportunity to have a home of her own. She is not shy, she loves to get attention, she knows sit and will put her rear on the floor like lightening at the sight of a treat. Sadly she is Heartworm positive which does require treatment immediately. Fantasia has no clue that she is affected by this, to her life is wonderful and she could not be happier. The treatment plan for Fantasia has already started and she will be continuing the protocol with us until she negative and no longer requires treatment. However with that being said, if you are interested in this amazing girl she can be fostered to adopt while she is undergoing her treatment. She would do best in a home with kids over the age of 12, she met some cats and would do well with a calm, laid back kitty. She does need to stay calm during and after her treatment so living with another dog for right now is not really possible. Fantasia is 60 pounds, estimated to be about three to four years young, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.
