PATCHOGUE, NY —The Patchogue Village elections are next week, and Patch will be profiling the four candidates for three open trustee seats, as well as the mayor who is running for reelection unopposed. The elections will be held on March 18th.

Jack Krieger is part of the "Patchogue 2020" team of incumbents that includes Mayor Paul Pontieri and trusteed Thomas Ferb and Lori Devlin. He was born in Patchogue Village 62 years ago and lived there ever since. Krieger worked in broadcast television before becoming the Public Information Officer for Brookhaven Town.

Krieger has served as the deputy mayor and a trustee for 16 years and thinks the most pressing issues facing Patchogue going forward is the downtown parking situation and keeping neighborhoods safe.

"I am most proud of my work to help residents in neighborhoods throughout the village deal with quality of life issues. Also, as the village board liaison to the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, I have been very active in its growth, renovation and resurgence. I am also a member of the Theatre’s Board of Directors."

Krieger told Patch that his long background in the Patchogue community and his experience as a trustee makes him a good candidate: "My family goes back more than 100 years in Patchogue, and I am a lifelong resident. That has given me a good, solid foundation to build upon. "

As for balancing economic growth with Patchogue residents' quality of life, Krieger says "Like the mayor says, as goes the downtown goes the neighborhoods and as goes the neighborhoods goes the downtown."

"That statement is behind every decision I make as a trustee. Our neighborhoods are the heart of the village and we must consider how business development effects residents from Main Street to every street in the village."
