Child Saved at Smith Point Country Park Outer Beach
2 NPFD firemen react to a child caught in the riptide currents at the Outerbeach of Smith Point County Park today.

2 North Patchogue Firefighters were enjoying a day off , on the outer beach at Smith Point County Park, when they were alerted to a child being sucked out in the rip current.

North Patchogue Firefighters Justin Owen and Steven Welsh immediately sprung into action , swam out to the child, pulled him back up from under water, kept him afloat and brought him safely back to his parents on the shore, where he was evaluated by EMS. The North Patchogue Firefighters are highly trained and never off duty.
We where happy that no one was hurt.
