Grass Pollen To Blast Patchogue In Coming Days
Allergy sufferers beware as high rates of pollen are expected in Patchogue this weekend.
PATCHOGUE, NY — Stock up on your allergy medicine and eyedrops for the upcoming weekend — the summer allergy onslaught is set to continue in Patchogue.
With the weather hovering between an enjoyable 67 and 84 degrees for the next four days, plenty of people will find themselves enjoying the outdoors in Patchogue. However, the outdoors and warm weather can also mean misery countless local residents suffering from allergies.
According to an allergy forecast from weather.com, grass pollen rates will rank as "high" for three of the next four days. The high rate of grass pollen comes after the pollen was almost non-existent in the first part of the week.

The only time the grass pollen rates will dip below high is on Saturday, when the rates will be at "moderate." The grass pollen rate will then go back up to high for the upcoming Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Tree pollen rates, however, will be non-existent in Patchogue. Rag-weed pollen rates also checking in at zero.

According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, the most common symptoms of allergies are sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, watery eyes, itchy throat and eyes, and wheezing. It's a list that people with allergies know all too well.

"Pollen counts are highest in the early morning, between 5 and 10 a.m.," Robert Sporter, a doctor at ENT & Allergy Associates in New York City, told AccuWeather.

Keep windows closed, filter the air by using air conditioning.
- Avoid certain foods
Some people with severe pollen allergies may have trouble eating raw and fresh fruit.
- Carry an allergy relief kit
Including over-the-counter products such as antihistamines and eye drops.
