Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued for Long Island

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:
THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS MAY BECOME STRONG TO SEVERE...CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND HAIL.

Winds capable of downing trees and power lines will be one of the main threats from any storms, AccuWeather Meteorologist Ryan Adamson said.
Post time for the 148th running of the Belmont Stakes is at 6:32 p.m. at Belmont Park in Elmont. The NWS says there's a 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms between 6-7 p.m. on Long Island.

It should be dry most of the day, though, and any storms that do impact the region are expected to move through quickly.
Here's the full forecast:
Friday- Sunny, with a high near 75. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph.
Friday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 58. North wind 5 to 9 mph.
Saturday- A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 74. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday Night- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. Breezy, with a west wind 11 to 21 mph.
Sunday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 59.
