LI Community Hospital Discharges 1,000th Coronavirus Patient

Nearly a year after the first coronavirus patient on Long Island was diagnosed, a local hospital discharged its 1,000th COVID-19 patient.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Nearly a year after Long Island saw its first coronavirus case, a local hospital discharged its 1,000th coronavirus patient.

Richard Raia was first sent to the Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue last month with COVID-19. However, Tuesday marked a momentous day not just for Raia, but for the hospital as well.

Raia's discharge marked the 1,000th COVID patient released from the hospital since the pandemic began.
