Man Shoots Himself In Hand With Illegally Possessed Gun: PD
The man was arrested after accidentally shooting himself in the hand with a gun he did not legally own, police said.
PATCHOGUE, NY — A Patchogue man was injured after accidentally shooting himself with an illegally possessed handgun on Tuesday, according to Suffolk police.
The man was cleaning his gun at his home when he accidentally shot himself in the hand on at 2:50 p.m., police said.
He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Investigators found that the man did not legally own the gun, police said.

The man was charged with criminal possession of a firearm. He was later taken to Stony Brook for evaluation.
