Man Slams Car Into Building, Tried To Flee Crash: Police

The 29-year-old was arrested early Friday after crashing into the building and then driving away from the crash, police said.

BLUE POINT, NY — A Central Islip man was arrested after crashing into a Blue Point building early Friday, according to Suffolk police.

Officers responded to 576 Eastbound Sunrise Service Road at 4:55 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a car crashed into the building, police said.

A responding officer saw the car flee the scene and another officer found the car a short time later and the driver stopped in a parking lot on West Main Street in Patchogue, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The driver, a 29-year-old Central Islip man, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and was also issued multiple traffic summonses, police said.

He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Friday.
