Obituary: Joseph Tackenberg, Ex-Patchogue Resident, Dies At 64

The father of two and grandfather of three passed away on November 23.

PATCHOGUE, NY - Joseph Arthur Tackenberg, a former Patchogue resident, died unexpectedly on November 23, 2019. He was 64.

Tackenberg was born in Queens, New York, on January 24, 1955 to John William Tackenberg and Irene Tackenberg (née Ratcliffe).

He graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School in 1973 and was later drafted to serve in the United States Air Force.

In September 1977, Joseph married the love of his life, Ngara Tackenberg (née Hathaway), whom he met while stationed in England.

In 1979 he had a daughter, Rachel, and returned with the Air Force to serve in upstate New York. In June 1984, Tackenberg had a son, John, while stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.

He completed his full time Air Force duties in December of 1984 so that he could spend more time with his family and newborn son, moving the family to Washington State. He worked the remainder of his career at Boeing in Seattle, retiring at age 55.

Tackenberg was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Rachel Noah (née Tackenberg) and John Tackenberg II; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey Noah (12), Andrew Noah (9), and Madison Tackenberg (6).

In addition, Tackenberg is also survived by three sisters: Susan Auer (née Tackenberg), Margaret Tackenberg, and Patricia Terga (née Tackenberg), and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
