Find out what you need to know before the virtual event next week.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Patchogue's Memorial Day ceremony will be held virtually this year for the first time ever amid the coronavirus crisis. The event will be hosted by the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce and VFW Post 2913 on the holiday on Monday, May 25. While it will not include the parade, the special ceremony will be live-streamed via Facebook.

Residents who want to watch can do so via the Patchogue Chamber Facebook page or the VFW Post 2913 page.

The actual event will include just a small group of commanders, veterans and government officials who will all be wearing masks and following social distancing guidelines, according to a report in the Long Island Advance. It will not be open to in-person guests. Live-streaming will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
