Pat Guidice, Business Manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1049 Union, was recently awarded a Salute to Labor Award which honors notable labor leaders throughout the New York area.

Mr. Guidice, who has been with IBEW Local 1049 for over 31 years, has dedicated his career to advancing the rights and improving the lives of working families. One of the largest private sector labor unions on Long Island, Local 1049 has over 4,100 members who are employed by National Grid and PSEG Long Island. Throughout his career with 1049, Pat Guidice has been responsible for helping to improve the labor movement on Long Island, dramatically helping thousands of his members who have dedicated their lives to the Long Island community.

The Salute to Labor awards ceremony, was held on September 14, 2020, in Long Island City, Queens, in an outdoor ceremony following social distant proceedings.

In his role as business manager, Mr. Guidice heads up all union activities including the role of Chief Negotiator in all 1049 Union negotiations. He also spearheads all union related arbitrations, heading up the administration of funds, managing all union business and office staff, and leading the enforcement of collective bargaining agreements.

“Pat’s passion, leadership skills and drive have enabled him to become one of Long Island’s steadfast union leaders,” said Vicki Schneps, Publisher, Schneps Media, which sponsors the annual Salute to Labor Awards. “We were very pleased to honor Pat in his new position as business manager.”

Pat plays an active role in numerous associations and currently is a board member with the United Way of Long Island, co-chairing its “Seniors Safe at Home” initiative. A highly valuable and respected leader within the labor union industry, he has also held executive board positions with the Long Island Federation of Labor, the Labor Education and Community Services Agency, the New York State Association of Electrical Workers and the IBEW Utility Labor Council.

IBEW Local 1049’s representational jurisdiction covers all utility work on the National Grid U.S. and Long Island Power Authority properties, where Pat and his members play an essential role in supporting the Long Island community. Additionally, Local 1049 represents workers at Altice USA.
