Pat-Med Celebrates 2017 Homecoming With Victory, Pride and Spirit
The Patchogue-Medford football team capped off this year's homecoming festivities with a 68-19 victory over Walt Whitman.

The win was just the last measure of pride and spirit witnessed throughout an incredible week of activities around the school district.
Students dressed the part during spirit week with various themes every day.

On Saturday morning hundreds lined Main Street to see decadent floats and student groups march proudly. That was followed by student skits at the high school and finally the football game.
Patchogue-Medford student Christian Guardino, fresh off his appearances on America’s Got Talent, performed the National Anthem.

The Raiders were led by running back Joey Collins who had four rushing touchdowns and 104 yards on 16 carries. Kevin Hillman had four receptions for 104 yards and one touchdown, including a 61-yard score on the first offensive play of the game. Hannah Martin completed all nine extra-point attempts in the contest.
During halftime, the marching band, cheerleading and dance squads all performed, and homecoming student royalty were recognized.
Student royalty included freshmen lord and lady, Jacob Christie and Madison Frascogna; sophomore duke and duchess, Paul Osheke and Sarah Emr; junior prince and princess, Anthony Lazaridis and Julia Grau; and senior kind and queen, Trevor Bahnsen and Erin Winn.
This year’s homecoming was dedicated to Nadine Scalzo, a faculty member who has made vast contributions to the school with spirit, pride and dedication. Scalzo, who graduated from Pat-Med in 1990, is a teacher at her alma mater.
Sean Dixon, a student who recently passed away from a rare form of cancer, was recognized throughout the day from being recognized on floats in the parade to a moment of silence in his honor prior to the game. Pat-Med players wore No. 38 helmet stickers for Dixon, and Bay Shore brought out a No. 38 jersey in his honor during the coin toss.
