Pat-Med's Own Marcus Stroman Seems Giddy To Play On Hometown Mets

PATCHOGUE, NY — Marcus Stroman, the former Patchogue-Medford High School standout and All-Star MLB pitcher who was traded from the Toronto Blue Jays to the New York Mets on Sunday, seems very excited at his new opportunity to play baseball for his favorite childhood team.

Most know Stroman as an MLB star, particularly in fantasy baseball circles. But before he was sitting big-leaguers down with high fastballs and nasty curves, he attended none other than Pat-Med. Stroman excelled during his high school years, named both Louisville Slugger's Player of the Year for the state and Gatorade Player of the Year for the state, according to his player profile on Duke Universit's athletics website. He went 9-1 during his final high school season with 0.25 ERA and 120 strikeouts, while also batting .350 with six homers and 22 stolen bases.

Stroman, 28, quickly took to social media to celebrate his return to his hometown team, writing that New York is where his "heart lies."

"Crazy excited for this part of my journey," wrote Stroman. "Some things were meant to be!"

Stroman followed up with a photo of the rapper 50 Cent in a Mets jersey, while also making his twitter cover photo a picture of the rappers infamous first pitch at Citi Field.

On Monday morning, Stroman posted a photo of himself attending Johan Santana's infamous no-hitter for the Mets in 2012. It remains the only no-hitter in franchise history.
