Patchogue-Medford High School Grad Marcus Stroman Named All-Star
Marcus Stroman, star pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays and former Patchogue-Medford High School graduate, has been named an All-Star.

MEDFORD, NY — Marcus Stroman, star pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays and former Patchogue-Medford High School graduate, has been named to his first All-Star game.
Stroman wrote in a Monday morning tweet:"ALL-STAR bound! Keep climbing young ones. Your dreams are always within reach. Let adversity build you. Surround yourself with loyalty. Keep vibe vampires out of your circle. Never panic, just manage!"

Stroman, 28, graduated from the high school 10 years ago and was drafted in the first round in 2012 by the Blue Jays. He debuted in the MLB in May 2014.

This year, Stroman is striking out about seven batters per game and limiting his walks to under three. Despite a 5-9 record with the team, his earned run average, or ERA, sits at a sparkling 3.18, good for 14th best in the league.
The 2019 MLB All-Star game will be held at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Tuesday, July 9.

For those feeling nostalgic, Stroman also posted a photo of himself in a Medford uniform, writing that it was an "unreal feeling."
"Super special moment for not only myself, but the few who are consistently by my side and in my corner," he wrote. "Hopefully the first of many all-stars. The climb continues!"
