Patchogue Resident Beth Giacummo Named Gallery Director At Farmingdale State College
Artist, arts activist, curator and educator Beth Giacummo has joined Farmingdale State College as director of its Memorial Gallery.

Artist, arts activist, curator and educator Beth Giacummo has joined Farmingdale State College as director of its Memorial Gallery.
Giacummo’s first exhibition features Long Island artist Colin Goldberg through November 15.
Giacummo has been a booster of the arts on Long Island for many years, and also holds the position of Curatorial & Exhibition Director / Sr. Curator at the Islip Art Museum. Her background includes founding member and president of the Patchogue Arts Council; chair of Graphics/Promotions for the PAC (M)usic (A)rt (C)inema Festival; co-chair of the Patchogue Arts Festival; and co-chair of South Shore Arts Tour - Long Island’s largest arts tour, linking Bellport to Babylon.

In addition, she is founder and co-director of Long Island’s first international residency program, New York Contemporary Art Symposium. Most recently she has joined the BOCES Art in Education Advisory Board, and continues to provide private consulting to curators, artist and art professionals.
As an artist, she has exhibited her work and participated in artist residencies both regionally and internationally, in venues throughout New York, Romania, Russia, Spain, Italy, Chile and Denmark. Her mixed media and large-scale inflatable sculptures have been exhibited through the Patchogue Arts Council, Dowling College and the Salton Stall Foundation.

Giacummo has received a number of grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the New York State Council for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts in support of numerous projects and residencies. She has been awarded a number of honors, including a certificate of congressional recognition and a number of proclamations from New York State in recognition of her service to the community.
Giacummo holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MFA in New Forms from Pratt Institute.
The Memorial Gallery is located in Hale Hall. The Goldberg exhibit is free and open to the public weekdays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
