Plans for Construction of Wal-Mart Unanimously Shot Down
The Brookhaven Planning Board voted against the construction of a new 98,000 square foot store planned for East Patchogue.

The Brookhaven Planning Board unanimously voted down a controversial proposal that would have allowed for the construction of a Wal-Mart in East Patchogue, according to a Newsday report.
Over 200 residents were present at the meeting where the board voted 6-0 against the proposal. The 98,000 square foot store would have been built at the northeast corner of Hospital Road and Sunrise Highway, close to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center.
