Stop & Shop Opens Its Doors At New Rocky Point Location

The new store features organics, prepared food offerings and local products

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC, has opened the doors of its new 58,000 sq. ft. store located at RTE 25A in Rocky Point, Long Island. Employing 145 associates, the store’s opening creates approximately 20 new jobs for Suffolk County residents. The new store replaces the former Super Food Town grocery store.

“Stop & Shop looks forward to welcoming customers into a brand new store that will help them save money, save time, and eat well. We’re sure shoppers will be pleased with our expanded offering of locally-sourced products, fresh meats and produce,” said Steve Kienzle, Senior Vice President Market Lead, South Market for Stop & Shop.

Rocky Point customers will experience a new store layout that caters to the organic and natural food-focused buyer. The natural food department begins with the organic produce section, which provides easy access to the organic/natural food section aisles. With this new format, Stop & Shop naturally ties these departments together, creating a source of inspiration for healthy family meals.

Customers will also experience one of Stop & Shop’s only fresh herb garden sets and the largest deli departments in the region, which will feature Boar’s Head brands at the service counter. The new enhanced specialty cheese department will feature an olive bar, fresh mozzarella made in-store, as well as local Long Island cheeses. The prepared food department will feature a sushi bar with an in-store sushi chef, a large selection of Premium Boar's Head Sandwich offerings, as well as Stop & Shop’s signature $4.99 rotisserie chickens and other hot and cold prepared food options. The expanded bakery will feature a wide variety of store-made cakes and local Long Island Pies.

The new Rocky Point location will also feature Stop & Shop’s time-saving “SCAN IT!” hand-held devices, which allow customers to scan and bag their groceries while they shop for speedier checkout.
