You really don’t want to miss Theatre Three’s thrilling, 50th anniversary season’s opening production of Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical running from September 14 – October 26, 2019.

Saturday night’s stunningly beautiful production brought the audience to their feet as they gave the cast a well-deserved standing ovation.

Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s gothic novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the musical adaptation of this classic work was originally conceived by Steve Cuden and Frank Wildhorn. The musical version featured at Theatre Three was compiled and adapted by Paul Hadobas , with additional Frank Wildhorn music and orchestrations, and additional script material written by Leslie Bricusse. This adapted version premiered at the Fullerton Civic Light Opera in 2001.

The plot is riveting and watching Alan Stentiford's outstanding performance, as he transforms from the gentle, intelligent, and well-meaning Dr. Jekyll into the rabid, irrational, evil-doing Mr. Hyde, will send chills down your spine. Mr. Stentiford’s vocal command and spot-on choreography during the song “Confrontation,” where Jekyll faces off with Hyde in a final battle to regain control of his life, is one of the most mesmerizing moments in theater you will ever witness.

Tracylynn Conner, one of the finest actresses/singers you will see on any stage, gives a breakout performance as the troubled prostitute, Lucy Harris. Her powerful vocals and steamy dance moves electrified the audience. Her emotionally charged solo, “No One Knows Who I Am,” moved me to tears.

Tamralynn Dorsa, a pitch-perfect soprano, gave an amazing performance as Emma Carew, the kind, supportive, and loving fiancée of Dr. Jekyll. Ms. Dorsa’s heavenly rendition of ”Once Upon a Dream” still echoes in my ears.

Kudos to the entire ensemble, who performed like a well-tuned instrument never missing a beat, including: Melanie Acampora, Bryan Bowie, Dennis Creighton, Anthony D'Amore, Lindsay DeFranco, Emily Gates, Eric J. Hughes, Heather Kuhn, Michelle LaBozzetta, Krystal Lawless, Andrew Lenahan, George Liberman, Linda May, Stephanie Moreau, Douglas Quattrock, Jim Sluder, James Taffurelli, Briana Ude, Steven Uihlein, and Ryan Worrell.

The innovative, multilevel scenic design by Randall Parsons, the authentic costume designs by Chakira Doherty, and the incredible lighting design by Robert W. Henderson, Jr., all came together to make this production a night to remember.

The Production Stage Manager was Melissa Troxler, the show’s sensational choreography was by Nicole Bianco, and Musical Direction was by Jeffrey Hoffman.

Great acting and singing, a live orchestra, vibrant choreography, amazing costumes, sets, and lighting, combined with superb directing by Jeffrey Sanzel, makes this a must-see production!
