A tropical storm warning has been issued for LI as Isaias begins to make its move up the East Coast. The storm is expected to hit Tuesday.

BROOKHAVEN, NY — Town of Brookhaven officials are preparing for the potential arrival of Tropical Storm Isaias, which is expected to hit the area this week. A tropical storm warning has been issued for Long Island as Isaias begins to make its move up the East Coast.

If the storm hits Long Island, it is expected to bring 2 to 4 inch of rainfall across the area with locally higher amounts of around 5 inches possible. In addition, the strongest wind threat is expected in Suffolk County and the "timing for this looks to be during late in the day on Tuesday and into Tuesday evening."

Prior to the storm, Brookhaven officials implemented red flags at the Town's three ocean beaches, prohibiting swimming at Davis Park, Ho Hum Beach and Great Gun. Access to the water will be restricted to water below the knees. Water conditions in the area are experiencing an aggressive East sweep in advance of the storm.
