5 Westlake Students Sign Letters Of Intent To Play College Sports

WESTLAKE, OH — Five Westlake High School Demons will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. The students signed letters of intent on Wednesday as part of National Signing Day.

The students are attending a variety of local and regional colleges, for soccer and cross country. The five students that signed letters of intent are:

• Cory DuBois, men's soccer — The Ohio State University
• Alise Esmer, women's soccer — Indiana State University
• Meredith Hansen, women's soccer — Cleveland State University
• Dominic Bauer, men's soccer — University of Findlay
• Ellie Templeton, cross country/track — Baldwin Wallace University

DuBois was named 1st Team All SWC Player, 1st Team All Greater Cleveland and was an All-Ohio selection this past season. He was a varsity captain and a nominee for the SWC Player of the Year. He also has a 4.4 GPA and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. He intends to major in business at The Ohio State.

Esmer is a four-year letter winner and was named the Defensive MVP. She was twice named to the All SWC 1st team. She has also been an All Greater Cleveland 1st and 2nd Team selection in her career. She was 2nd Team All Ohio. She is a multisport athlete, earning four letters in swimming. She intends to major in nursing at Indiana State.

Hansen is a four year letter winner and a three-year starter in the midfield. She was twice named captain for the SWC champion Lady Demons. She was also named All SWC 2nd team as a sophomore and made the 1st Team as a junior and senior. In her career, she tallied 28 goals and 18 assists. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society, Student Council and was part of the Leadership Challenge as a peer facilitator. She will major in health sciences at Cleveland State.

Bauer comes from a soccer playing family. His sister Maya plays for Mercyhurst University. Dominic has earned three soccer letters for the Demons and was a starter the past two years. He also earned letters in track and field. He intends on majoring in marketing or finance at Findlay.

Templeton is a four-year letter winner for the Lady Demons Cross Country team and was part of this year's SWC Championship team. She has been named Newcomer of the Year and MVP in her sophomore season. She also earned the Coaches Award and Most Improved awards during her career. She wants to major in criminal justice at Baldwin Wallace.
