Drunken Driver Hits Guard Rail In Westlake: Police
Despite damage to his car, a street sign and the guard rail, the driver insisted he did not hit anything, police said.
WESTLAKE, OH — A car hit a guard rail and came to a stop on Crocker Road near I-90 last week, Westlake police announced.
At 1 a.m. on April 12, police dispatch received reports of a car crash near Crocker Road and I-90. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle parked on the sidewalk, near a damaged stretch of guard rail.
The driver, a 21-year-old from Elyria, was walking around his car but told officers he had broken down, according to a Westlake police spokesperson. Officers responded by pointing out the damage to his car, the damage to the guard rail, the damage to a street sign and the car parts scattered around the road.

The driver insisted he had not hit anything, police said.
According to police, the driver appeared intoxicated and he told officers he had drank two or three beers before hitting the road.

The 21-year-old was field tested and then arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle impaired. He was taken to Westlake Jail, where he tested 2.5 times over the legal blood-alcohol limit, police said.
The driver's license was placed under suspension and he was then released to a sober relative. He faces charges of failure to control and operating a vehicle impaired.
