Hotel Guest Sold Drugs, Fought Police In Westlake: Police

A 49-year-old Cleveland man is accused of fighting police and selling meth out of a Westlake hotel.

WESTLAKE, OH — A Cleveland man fought with police when they tried to arrest him in Westlake, police said.

On March 20, staff at the Double Tree Hotel on Clemens Road reported that a guest, a 49-year-old man from Cleveland, was selling drugs from his room. Staff took police to the room and officers found two people inside, including the Clevleander, a Westlake police spokesperson said.

Officers saw signs of drug use in the room, police said. Suspected meth and assorted pills were found inside the room.

Police then tried to detain the Clevelander, but he started fighting officers, police said.

A 38-year-old Garfield Heights woman also tried to stop police from detaining the man. Both people were arrested inside the hotel.

The 49-year-old has been charged with attempted aggravated robbery, assault on a police officer and felony drug abuse. The 38-year-old has been charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Both arrested people have been taken to Cuyahoga County Jail.
