Join in on Westlake's '17 Corporate Challenge

Companies can register by June 16. Points are awarded for donating at a blood drive, baking cookies, and more.

From the City of Westlake: The City of Westlake invites businesses located in the city to compete in the 2017 Corporate Challenge from Monday, July 31 through Friday, August 4. The team to accumulate the most points from more than 20 events over the course of the week will take home the coveted first place trophy.

“For 11 years, the Corporate Challenge has been a healthy way for local companies and their employees to stay active in our community,” said Bob DeMinico, Director of Recreation. “The events provide an opportunity for businesses to foster employee interaction, morale, pride, health and wellness, team building, sportsmanship, and fun. We hope that every company in the city can join us!”

He added that the friendly competition also allows companies to network with one another, potentially forming valuable business connections and relationships. The events will be held at the Westlake Recreation Center, Q-Lab Corporation, Dave & Busters, Bay Lanes, Meadowood Golf Course, and Westlake Center for Community Services.

Athletes, non-athletes, and everyone in between are encouraged to participate. Points are awarded for donating blood at a blood drive, baking cookies, “Pack the Backpack” school supplies collection or creating a banner for the theme “Hometown Heroes!” Sporting activities include running or water-based relay races, volleyball, bowling, golf, cornhole, bocce ball, and a family fun walk. “Family Feud,” Pictionary®, “Texas Hold’em”, skee ball, and air hockey test other skills.

In 2016, the scores were close but UH St. John Medical Center took to the winner’s circle with great effort by Applied Companies, City of Westlake, ECHO Health, Inc., Q-Lab Corporation, Western Enterprises and West Shore Bar Association.

Companies can register their team by calling Bob DeMinico at 440-808-5700 by Friday, June 16, 2017. Find details in the Team Captains Packet at www.cityofwestlake.org/Corporate-Challenge.
