Shoplifter Steals Cigarettes In Westlake
Police are asking the public for help identifying the suspect.
WESTLAKE, OH — A shoplifter stole several cartons of cigarettes from a gas station in Westlake last week, police announced.
Investigators are hoping the public can identify the suspect in the theft.
On Feb. 27, at 11:15 p.m., a shoplifter came into the BP Gas Station at the corner of Columbia and Detroit roads. The suspect convinced the clerk to go to the back of the store and then stole several cartons of cigarettes, police said.

The suspect is a white man, standing about 5 feet 10 inches. He had a stocky build and gray hair. During the theft, he was wearing a maroon Old Navy hoodie. Police believe he may be between 40 and 50 years old.
Westlake police released surveillance images of the suspect this week. They said they hope someone recognizes the shoplifter and contacts police.

"If you recognize the male or have information about the incident please call the Westlake Police non-emergency phone at 440-871-3311," the department said on social media.
