Westlake High Has A New Boys Basketball Coach
Jeff Huber has been hired to take over the Demons program.
WESTLAKE, OH — Jeff Huber is the new varsity boys basketball coach for Westlake High, the school district announced this week.
“I am excited about the opportunity to become the boys’ basketball coach at Westlake,” Huber said on the district website. “The chance to coach in the same district in which I teach is very appealing. I believe that with the combination of the student-athletes we have, the community support and top notch facilities, everything is in place for us to develop a consistently strong program. I am enthused about the challenge of competing in the SWC and look forward to getting to work with our players.”
Huber has spent nearly a decade as the head basketball coach at Holy Name High School. Over the past nine seasons, he has wracked up a record of 138-82, including a sterling 62-14 stretch over the past three years.

The trophy cabinet is pretty full for Huber. He was named the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 Great Lakes Conference Coach of the Year, and the 2017-2018 Greater Cleveland Basketball Coaches Association Division II-IV Coach of the Year.
The past two seasons at Holy Name were marked by explosive offense: the team average 90.2 points per game in 2017-2018 and 81.2 points per game in 2018-2019.
Before joining Holy Name, Huber was the head coach at Lake Ridge Academy. During his stint at Lake Ridge he led the program to the most wins in school history and its first winning season in a decade.
However, Huber's first coaching gig was at Westlake High. From 2005 to 2009 he was the assistant boys basketball coach and head freshmen coach.
“Coach Huber has been a highly successful coach and the fact that he is an outstanding teacher in our building and is familiar with our students. We are extremely excited to bring him back home,” said Westlake's Director of Athletics Tony Cipollone.
Huber has been teaching at Westlake City Schools since 2006, as a Social Studies teacher. His wife, Brianne, is also a teacher in the Westlake Schools.
