WESTLAKE, OH — The Westlake High School Academic Challenge team finished 10th overall at a recent national tournament. The squad claimed its Top 10 finish at the Questions Unlimited Fall 3-2-1 National Tournament after competing with 171 other schools.

Students competed online, answering 240 questions covering all academic subjects. The quiz was timed and was overseen by Academic Challenge advisers John and Sandy Packis.

"Students on the Westlake High School Academic Challenge Team work hard to prepare for tournaments like 3-2-1. Many of our students are veterans who have been doing Academic Challenge since middle school. We have buzzer practices twice a week, students use recommended resources to study on their own and they compete in tournaments throughout the year. We also have topic lessons at practice and we rehearse how to work well as a team," John Packis told Patch in an email.
