Families ‘shop' for toys at City Rescue Mission (kfor.com) — Families staying at Oklahoma City’s City Rescue Mission can now “shop” a Toy Workshop to personally choose multiple Christmas gifts for their children, thanks to community donations. The mission also invites previously housed families back, aiming to serve about 100 families and ensure kids of all ages have presents to open on Christmas morning.

El Reno students continue 80-year Gifts for Yanks tradition (journalrecord.com) — Veterans at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center just received thousands of dollars in holiday gifts thanks to El Reno High School’s long-running Gifts for Yanks drive. Students raised about $12,000 for essentials and comfort items, then personally delivered gift bags during a Dec. 11 visit to the OKC facility.

Mayors Applaud Passage of Housing for the 21st Century Act in House Committee (usmayors.org) — Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, in his role as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, is praising a bipartisan House committee vote advancing the Housing for the 21st Century Act. He says the bill’s reforms could help cities nationwide build more housing and urges the full House to act quickly in the new year.
