Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:
- Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested two individuals early Saturday morning in the West Haven-Sylvan neighborhood. The deputies charged Patrick DaCosta, 28, and Caitlin Kent, 31, for possession of stolen goods, including at least four guns and 450 rounds of ammunition, among other crimes. (KOIN)
- Niche recycling company Ridwell might be in a spot of trouble with Washington County. The County requires recycling businesses to obtain a certificate issued by the Board, which Ridwell has not done. A June 10 hearing will determine if the company violated County rules. There will also be a discussion about possible County-led initiatives for dealing with the type of hard-to-recycle items Ridwell currently accepts. (Cedar Mill News)
- As the school year wraps up, Terra Nova School of Science and Sustainability students celebrated their farming efforts. The junior farmers teamed up with Portland's Urban Gleaners program to provide fresh produce for those in need through the pandemic. (BSD)
- Beaverton Police report an increase in DUII arrests in May. The month saw 53 total arrests for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, which was nine more than April. (@BeavertonPolice)
- The Children's Cancer Therapy Development Institute just received a large grant from the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation. With $160,000 from the Foundation, the Beaverton-based cancer institute will continue its work with Dr. Charles Keller's genetic research program. It is the only organization in Oregon that is receiving grant funding from the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation this year. (Beaverton Valley Times)

- Stuffed Animal Show and Tell— Beaverton City Library invites kids in grades K-3 to an online event. (3 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
- Aloha Community Library is hosting a virtual Messy(ish) Arts and Crafts project for kids of all ages. Participants can pick up supplies during regular library hours. (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
- State of the County— Washington County Commissioner Chair Kathryn Harrington gives a regional update via Zoom. (12 p.m.)
